Hyperion DeFi Forges Major Partnership with Skew Technologies
In a significant move for the decentralized perpetual futures landscape, Nasdaq-listed Hyperion DeFi has committed 500,000 HYPE tokens to support institutional perpetual futures listings on Hyperliquid. The agreement, announced on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, is structured through a new partnership with Skew Technologies and leverages Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 permissionless listings framework.
Under the terms of the deal, Hyperion DeFi will deploy the HYPE tokens as bonded capital under the HIP-3 framework. In return, Hyperion receives an equity stake in Skew Technologies and a share of the revenue generated from listing services. This arrangement is designed to help institutional clients launch custom perpetual futures markets on Hyperliquid, a layer-1 blockchain specialized in perpetual futures trading.
Agreement Details
Rather than operating the markets directly, Skew Technologies will provide the listing service, while Hyperion contributes the 500,000 HYPE tokens required to support permissionless listings. Hyperion DeFi CEO Hyunsu Jung noted that the company has been receiving requests from teams worldwide to launch and distribute new markets using Hyperliquid’s infrastructure and is actively evaluating HIP-3 opportunities.
The partnership also deepens Hyperion’s exposure to the Hyperliquid ecosystem beyond simply holding the token, as the company will receive both an ownership interest in Skew and a portion of the listing business revenue.
The HIP-3 Framework and Its Expanding Use Cases
Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 framework allows developers to create custom perpetual markets by posting HYPE as bonded capital, giving the token a use case beyond staking. This infrastructure has recently been used to launch synthetic markets linked to assets outside the crypto space. For example, last week Hyperliquid deployed a synthetic perpetual market tied to Chinese memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies ahead of its Shanghai listing. This demonstrates how the framework can support custom derivatives linked to real-world and pre-IPO assets without giving traders ownership of the underlying securities.
Growing Institutional Interest in Hyperliquid
The Hyperion DeFi announcement comes amid a broader surge in institutional activity around Hyperliquid. Earlier this month, Bitwise added HYPE to its Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF (BITW), placing the token inside one of the industry’s largest diversified crypto index products after its latest index rebalancing.
Additionally, Hyperliquid has attracted new infrastructure partnerships. Circle and Coinbase recently deepened USDC integration on the network, making USDC the platform’s preferred stablecoin. However, JPMorgan noted that the revised revenue-sharing structure could reduce long-term reserve income retained by Circle and Coinbase, even as USDC adoption grows.
These developments highlight the expanding role of Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 framework in enabling both crypto-native and real-world asset derivatives, positioning the platform as a key player in the institutional perpetual futures market.
