BitGo and Moon to Scale Bitcoin Card Products in Asia

BitGo has partnered with Moon Inc., a Hong Kong-listed firm with nearly 30 years of prepaid distribution experience, to launch Bitcoin-linked prepaid card products across Asia. BitGo Singapore, regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), will serve as the infrastructure layer. The cards will hit Hong Kong retail stores and Moon’s online shop this month (May 2026). The program has already processed multiple wholesale transactions since launch. Moon targets expansion into Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, and other Asian regions

Key Financial Data from the Deal

The partnership comes on the heels of BitGo’s Q1 revenue of $3.77 billion, a 112.6% year-over-year increase. However, net loss widened to $60.7 million due to Bitcoin treasury marks and post-IPO compensation. Notably, BitGo’s Stablecoin-as-a-Service revenue rose 43.6% quarter-over-quarter to $38.2 million. The company also launched derivatives services in Q1. Separately, Kraken’s parent Payward agreed to acquire Hong Kong-based Reap Technologies for up to $600 million, adding card issuance and stablecoin capabilities.

Market Context: Bitcoin at $80,565 and Altcoin Landscape

As of this report, Bitcoin (BTC) trades at $80,565.00, Ethereum (ETH) at $2,254.76, XRP at $1.47, BNB at $685.61, Solana (SOL) at $91.37, Hyperliquid (HYPE) at $45.66, Cardano (ADA) at $0.267625, Chainlink (LINK) at $10.34, POL at $0.093674, Toncoin (TON) at $2.09, and Asteroid Shiba (ASTEROID) at $0.0002831. These prices reflect market conditions when BitGo’s expansion was announced. The deal underscores growing institutional demand for regulated crypto payment infrastructure, which could support price discovery for BTC and related assets.

Infrastructure and Security Details

Moon evaluated custody providers based on security architecture, API depth, and scale. Moon COO Russ Jacobsen stated: ‘BitGo’s biometric multi-signature infrastructure, batch transaction capabilities, and securing billions in digital assets made them the clear choice.’ BitGo APAC head Abel Seow noted that digital assets are being integrated into consumer finance across Asia. The partnership leverages BitGo’s MAS-regulated entity to provide institutional-grade custody and settlement.

Investment Implications and Market Outlook

This expansion signals growing demand for regulated crypto infrastructure in Asia. For Bitcoin (BTC) at $80,565.00 and Ethereum (ETH) at $2,254.76, such payment use cases could drive mainstream adoption. The move also benefits altcoins like XRP ($1.47) and Solana ($91.37) if volume follows. However, BitGo’s widening net loss ($60.7M) reminds investors of industry volatility. Monitor growth in Stablecoin-as-a-Service revenue (+43.6% QoQ) as a proxy for institutional demand. The Kraken-Reap deal ($600M) further validates the Asian payment corridor.

Market Outlook: Bullish for Bitcoin payment infrastructure and regulated custody providers in Asia.
